CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

What is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a holistic therapy using gentle touch to connect with the intrinsic movement expressed within all tissues and fluids of your body, amplifying your natural capacity for self-repair.

This intrinsic movement, we refer to as the Breath of Life, is the inherent ordering principle that allows a cut to heal, a broken bone to reform and a foetus to develop and grow into a baby, child and adult.

Sometimes however, unresolved stressful or traumatic experiences whether physical, mental or emotional, may be retained in the body and so restrict intracellular movement. This restriction is expressed as different symptoms including pain, fatigue, lack of mental acuity and physical deformity. CST practitioners are trained to relieve stagnation and blockages thereby supporting your body’s innate ability to rebalance, alleviate dysfunction and self-heal.

What happens during a session?

During a session you either sit or lie down fully clothed and the CST practitioner will place their hands over the areas of the body that are most related to the source of the problem. You may feel heat, tingling and pulsating sensations as well as a deep sense of relaxation.

During and after a session you may feel calm and energised, with increased clarity of mind and a greater sense of wellbeing. Major shifts can happen in just one session. However, typically people have 3 to 5 sessions depending on what they’re presenting with.
CST practitioners are trained to relieve stagnation and blockages thereby supporting your body’s innate ability to rebalance, alleviate dysfunction and self-heal.

Suitable for everyone in all stages of life.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on how long you have had the presenting condition, how bad it is, what you do for yourself between treatments and how you respond to treatment. The chiropractor will discuss their working diagnosis and treatment plan with you

Typically an average initial course of treatments may be between three and six, initially at weekly intervals which will increase as you progress.
